Events in Funes and surroundings!
South Tyrol Speckfest Funes
At the foot of the Odle in St. Magdalena in Funes, the South Tyrolean Speckfest takes place annually at the end of September / beginning of October. In a breathtaking mountain scenery, the "Gletscherhons" presents Hans Mantinger, the traditional "bacon surprise". The master presents special creations from South Tyrolean bacon each year.
The whole is surrounded by traditional folk music and a farmers market, where there is also regional, freshly baked bread.
Farm festival in Tiso
In Tiso, the first village in the Funes Valley, one of the most traditional festivals in South Tyrol is celebrated every year in October: the Bauernfestl. Nestled in a dreamlike setting with a view over the Eisacktal valley, we celebrate a feast in the spirit of the farmers' crafts. Breading bakes, weaving baskets and hats and carving are some of the crafts that can be found here. Particularly interesting for children: the Shearing. In order to have a good time, music groups play in the streets of Tiso during the event.
"Eisacktaler Kost" weeks
In March, the oldest South Tyrolean specialty week is held; The "Eisacktaler Kost". For more than 45 years, regional products have been the focus, with a different motto every year. In the numerous guesthouses participating in the Eisack Valley, traditional dishes are served, such as wine soup, Tirtln and Schlutzer. Taste original Tyrolean and Eisack Valley delicacies in traditional South Tyrolean inns.
Children climbing course
In the summer, a climbing course for children (> 8 years) is offered in the neighboring climbing garden "Zanser Alm". Once a week, children can learn the basics of climbing with the help of an experienced mountain guide. On the rock in wonderful nature, children will playfully develop their abilities, following the footsteps of the famous climber Reinhold Messner.
Bread baking on the farm
Once a week, families have the possibility, with the help of Robert and Maria, to bake traditional bread in the wood oven. Of course, children can put their own hands on the dough and they can feed chickens, carve calves in the stables or reap potatoes. Afterwards the homemade bread is tasted together. An interesting experience on the farm for the whole family!
Dolomiti Ranger in the Natural Park Puez-Odle
In the summer, the Puez-Odle Nature Park is a special nature experience for the whole family. Parents and children (7-12 years) can explore the "mysterious flora and fauna of the Dolomites". There are two adventure trips every week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Tuesdays it's about how animals and plants can survive in the Dolomites, on Thursday there is a night hike to plants, animals and energies of nature.
